What is PABA ?

Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) is an antioxidant often considered to be Vitamin Bx, part of the B Vitamin family when, in fact, it is actually an amino acid found in the essential nutrient folic acid. It can be found in several foods such as grains, eggs, milk, and meat whereas folic acid is mostly available from green vegetables. Because PABA can be synthesised in the body it is considered a nonessential nutrient.

PABA benefits and uses

Supplementing PABA brings many benefits, but it's mostly used for general skin and hair care. Some individuals believe that by supplementing PABA, hair colour is restored PABA also supports the friendly bacteria in the intestines used to aid digestion

PABA is often found in doses of 500 mg to 1000 mg, and PABA is often found in multivitamin supplements.

What is L-Theanine ?

L-Theanine is a non-essential amino acid primarily found in black and green tea. It plays a vital role in enhancing cognitive performance.

L-Theanine benefits and uses

L-Theanine alters levels of neurotransmitters in a positive way producing a calm and relaxing effect on mood as well as aiding concentration and alertness. L-Theanine may also have neuroprotective effects by acting as a glutamate antagonist. Despite aiding alertness, it is also used as a sleep aid for a better quality of sleepThere are also some studies that suggest L-Theanine works as an antioxidant due to it's restoration of Glutathione to the body

L-Theanine is usually found in doses of around 200mg - 300mg.

What is DL-Phenylalanine ?

DL-Phenylalanine (DLPA), a precursor to the amino acid Tyrosine, contains different forms of the essential amino acid Phenylalanine. L-Phenylalanine, a natural compound found in protein rich foods and D-Phenylalanine.

Benefits and uses

L-Phenylalanine, works by increasing the neurotransmitters Dopamine and Norepinephrine which help improve mood and a sense of wellbeing. D-Phenylalanine works in a similar way but has also been studied for potential pain relief effects. By combining the two, DL-Phenylalanine is a magnificent cognitive nutrient that stimulates AMPA receptors and can help with elevating mood, focus and energy.

DL-Phenylalanine is usually found in doses of 100mg -500mg.

What is Resveratrol ?

Resveratrol, a flavonoid and antioxidant, is a polyphenol found in red wine, peanuts and some berries.

Benefits and uses

There are many benefits associated with Resveratrol.  Resveratrol promotes longevity and heart health by helping the endothelial lining of the arteries, in two ways. It protects the endothelium from oxidative free radical damage and helps keep blood vessels dilated by protecting the production of nitric oxide. Supports cognition by improving cellular function. There is also some evidence that it works as an anti-inflammatory and can assist with lowering bad cholesterol (LDL) as well as helping to prevent insulin resistance.

Resveratrol is mostly sold as a supplement with doses of 250mg - 500mg

What is Phosphatidylserine ?
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid present in all human cells, contains fatty acids and amino acids.

Benefits and uses
Phosphatidylserine has many vital functions throughout the body’s tissues and organs, but most importantly, it’s a key building block for the billions of cells in your brain. By increasing neurotransmitters, PS also helps cognition, memory, focus and mood. It has also shown a lot of promise regarding exercise, endurance, muscle and injury recovery.

Phosphatidylserine is usually found in doses of 100mg - 500mg

What is Choline Bitartrate?
Choline Bitartrate is a simple form of the essential nutrient choline, which is found in meat, fish, eggs and peanuts.

Benefits and uses
There are many benefits to Choline Bitartrate. It's the precursor to the neurotransmitters acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is key for the functioning of mood, memory, focus and the ability to learn. Low levels of acetylcholine have been linked to age related memory loss. Choline is essential for the brain and nervous system to function normally and supports the growth and production of cell membranes. It also helps repair older cells allowing them to function better. Cognitive fluidity is vastly improved allowing mental tasks to be achieved with a greater ease.
Choline Bitartrate is usually found in doses of 400mg - 1000mg

What is Niacin ?

Niacin (also known as Niacinamide) is more commonly known as Vitamin B3 and found in many types of food including meat, tuna, mushrooms, seeds and other foods.

Benefits and uses
Niacin has many health benefits.
Boosts brain function. Lowers LDL Cholesterol and Increases HDL Cholesterol by stopping the breakdown of apolipoprotein A1. It is often to used to help balance blood sugar levels. Improve arthritis and muscle function. Enhances circulation by helping the body produce Histamine. Can assist with the maintenance of healthy skin. Vitamin B3 also converts proteins, carbohydrates and fats into energy.

Niacin is often found in doses of 50mg - 500mg

What is Lemon Balm ?

Lemon Balm (also known as Melissa officinalis) is a member of the mint family.

Benefits and uses

Lemon balm helps calm the mind, boosts alertness and sharpens the memory (suppresses brain chemical acetylcholinesterase which breaks down the brain-signaling chemical acetylcholine which is responsible for memory and thought). Antioxidant that protects cells from free radicals as well as supporting the Liver by clearing toxins from the body.  Helps balance blood sugar levels. Eugenol protects the brain by neutralising free radicals. Rosmarinic Acid appears to protect the brain. Can also assist with making the skin look younger and can also inhibit adiogenesis. Lemon Balm can also be used to encourage restful sleep and wake feeling refreshed.

Lemon Balm is often found in doses of 300mg to 600mg

What is Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), also known as Indian Ginseng, is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda, a form of alternative Indian medicine.

Benefits and uses

Aswhagandha is classified as an “adaptogen,” because it can help your body manage stress but there are many health benefits for both your body and brain. Studies have shown that ashwagandha may help reduce cortisol levels. Cortisol is increased at times of stress and when blood sugar levels get too low. Increased Cortisol can also lead to fat storage around the abdomen. Ashwagandha helps normalise blood sugar levels and reduce body fat. It also has the ability to increase energy levels, muscle mass and strength. More commonly used by men to elevate testosterone levels. Another benefit of Ashwagandha is that it may lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides in some individuals, leading to a healthier heart function. Research has shown that Ashwagandha has antioxidant properties protecting nerve cells from harmful free radicals, improving brain function, memory and concentration.

Ashwagandha is normally found in doses of 100mg to 600mg
